How am I different?

Socially Responsible Investing

Within the portfolios, I believe investing in a socially responsive manner important.  Consequently, I have integrated environmental, social and governance (ESG) considerations in the fund selections and many of the funds are UNPRI Signatories at a minimum.  This means the funds submit their investment process on an annual basis for assessment of their ESG strategy and this strengthens their investment decisions.  As a signatory to the PRI, Fund Managers have committed to adopt and implement principles which were developed by investors, for investors.

ESG Considerations:

The following factors generally represent the ESG considerations, but are not exhaustive: Environment:

• Carbon emissions

• Energy use

• Waste

• Environmental policies and risk management

Social:

• Health and safety

• Modern slavery

• Stakeholder relations

• Diversity

Governance:

• Board composition

• Executive remuneration and incentives

• Ethics

• Anti-competitive practices

Excellence

Liz Koh conducted an interview with me regarding what it means to be a Certified Financial Planner in New Zealand and how it helps my clients.  Watch it here to gain an insight into this.

At Financial Sense I strive for excellence.  I do this in a number of ways and I have been recognised with numerous industry awards over the years.  I have gained both the Certified Financial Planner and Certified Life Underwriter trademarks which are both international marks of excellence.  I have also qualified for membership of the Million Dollar Round Table Association which places me in the top 10% of Financial Service Professionals in the world.

I am a member of the Financial Advice New Zealand Investment Committee.  As well as representing the interests of the investment sector in NZ, these committees act as advisers to the executive and board on key issues facing the industry.

I was awarded the Trusted Adviser Mark by Financial Advice New Zealand in 2020.  This is a quality service mark that is a visible symbol of my high level of qualification, experience and ethics training that has been recognised by our professional body -Financial Advice New Zealand.
